How We Are Responding

Updated 3/15/2020 @ 4:42pm

We Will Not Be People of Fear; We Will Be Wise:

2 Timothy 1:7: For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

COVID-19 Response:

Gatherings will be suspended effective immediately / Services will still be live-streamed.

Hello MCC family. We have been closely monitoring how the COVID 19 situation has been rapidly changing and we have made the decision to follow the recommendations of our state and local health officials as well as Governor Wolf. The governor recommended this week that across Pennsylvania no mass gatherings and especially those with more than 250 attenders should be held and today closed all PA schools for 2 weeks.

Thus, the leadership has decided to suspend all on-site gatherings until further notice including our worship services and evening meetings such as family night and other groups that meet at the church. God has blessed us with the ability to worship together as a church family online and this Sunday you will be able to view services at 9 and 11 on Facebook, Youtube or directly through our site as we worship together. We will be continuing our series At The Cross with words from Christ that seem to fit our current situation very well.

These aren’t decisions that have been made in fear but rather motivated out of a heart of how can we best love our neighbors by not unnecessarily spreading the virus and of living in accordance with the biblical directive to honor our governing authorities. We honestly believe that this will give us new opportunities to spread the message of hope that Jesus brings to those closest to us and we’ll be discussing that more as we move forward.

Many of us will be wondering when we will be gathering again to worship in person together. While we don’t have a specific answer we will assess the situation on a week by week basis. In the meantime, we are looking to engage and be the church in a number of ways. For those in a life group, we will be connecting with our life group leaders to give them ways to stay engaged as a group. For all of us even if you’re not in a life group you can expect us to have regular communication about other ways for us all to connect over the next few days. Please make sure you stay connected with us online so we can engage with each other about who needs help and we can communicate how we can be the hands and feet of Jesus in our communities.

Continue to join us in prayer for this situation and use good wisdom. Things are changing quickly but we don’t need to fear, we can put our hope in Jesus who is our hope. We look forward to gathering together with you throughout the community this Sunday at 9 or 11.

Psalm 91:5-7: You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.

Encouragement from Scripture:

Psalm 91:5-7: You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.

Psalm 91:10-11: No evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; for He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.

Luke 12:25-26: Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?

John 14:27: Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

John 16:33: I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.
