Trek and Journey will be serving as the ongoing discipleship program of Totally Committed Youth Ministry! Students will complete weekly home Bible studies that we will build on during our Sunday evening meetings (6:00-7:30pm).
Students will also be in small groups during the meetings where they build friendship and help one another grow in their faith.
Trek (6-8th Grade) will complete a study called “His Story” on four big concepts in a framework called Redemption History. It allows them to work through the entire Scripture and understand the big story God is telling, not only about the world but what God is telling about them as well.
Journey (9-12th grade) will complete a study called “Disciples.” They will start by forming an understanding of their identity in Christ. From there they will work through different topics disciples of Christ need to grasp such as giving, missions, love, suffering, the Church, stewardship, and Christian habits.
Q. Do I need a shirt?
A. Nope: But you would look snazzy in one!
Q. What's the difference between Essentials and the Bible Study
A. Essentials was designed for students just getting started. Their at home study is significantly reduced and should take just a few minutes per week. On the other hand, the full Bible Study should take most students about 15 minutes a day for the 6 days leading up to a meeting. Because Essential has a reduced expectation, they do not have the opportunity to earn awards.
Q. Will I be required to memorize scripture
A. If your goal is to complete the Bible Study program than every week you will have a short passage to memorize.
Q. Why do I have to pay? Jesus gave freely...the church should too!
A. Let's be honest: TCYM is going to spend more money on this program then we bring in. We are asking that you cover some of the cost. This shows us you are actually committed and helps prevent students from mistreating their books.
Q. What if I can't afford the fee?
We can find projects to "Work and Save" for the book.
Q. Can I join part way through the year?
A. Yes but the cost is the same and if you want to earn awards you need to play catch up!
Q. Do I need to attend every week?
A. The study was designed to build on itself so missed weeks will leave you with less of a foundation for the next study. Any students working towards awards should play catch up but it’s optional for everyone else.
Registration forms can be found at the Welcome Center or Download it here. Please return these forms with registration fee by September 2nd to receive your book September 9th.
